ITQ

Overview

The City and Guilds ITQ is the National Vocational Qualification for IT Users and is an established (and nationally recognised) qualification aimed at people using computers both inside and outside of the workplace. Its unique 'pick and mix' approach allows learners to choose exactly what units best reflect their skills profile.

Anyone who uses IT as part of their job or even if studying for non IT subjects, ITQ is perfect due to its flexible structure that can be adapted to suit each individual.

How does the qualification work?

There are 3 levels in total and it is a point based qualification. There are no exams - so each unit has been given a value 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 depending on the complexity and level of content. To complete the full ITQ, learners will need to achieve a minimum total point of: 40 at Level 1, 100 at Level 2 and 180 at Level 3.

For example: the learner could select a Level 3 unit in word processing and a Level 1 unit in subjects such as IT Security.  the qualification is completely 'pic and mix' which allows the learner to select which units are ideally suited to them.  However there is a mandatory unit that each learner has to take and that is Make Selective use of IT
